Costume and Make-Up Planning

I think this outfit is nice and the crop top and long skirt go well together. Although I won't be able to find an outfit exactly the same, I will able to use the same style. Meaning the crop top and long skirt. In this image, the only jewelry she is wearing is a few bracelets. I think I would do the same thing.

I think this dress is pretty and sophisticated and would be good for a fashion magazine. I don't have a dress exactly the same but again I have something that is the same style. In this image, she isn't wearing any jewelry. Maybe I would include a bracelet or a ring.

I think with any outfit I will use this make up look because it is a brown smokey eye that will go with most things. It will also look nice and sophisticated.

Photoshoot Recce

1.    Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )? There is a chance that there will be wires on the floor.

What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised? I will make sure that the area is tidy and there is no wires to trip over.

3.    Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this? I am going to take my photos inside so the weather will not affect the photos. However I will have to take my photos in the morning/early afternoon as it will be bright then which will make the photos look better.

4.    Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? I am going to use a plain wall in my house for the background.

5.    Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect? I am planning on taking my photos inside at day time so the natural light should be good. However, if it is not I will use my flash and artificial lighting.

6.    Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind? I am taking the photos in my house so I don't need permission.

7.    Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)? I do not need to book any rooms.

8.    Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect? I am taking the photos at home so there is only a few people to control who is present.

9.    Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B? The only things I will need will be clothes and make up which I have. I have asked my auntie to model so she will be more reliable.

10.    Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…? I think I have thought of everything but if I have not and there is a problem, I will deal with it in the best way possible.

Research On Students

I have been looking at some of last years students' work. It has really helped me with my own work because it has gave me an idea of what mine should look like. It has gave me an idea of where to start and has helped me understand exactly what I have to do.

Chosen Brief

For my coursework I have chosen to do this brief:

The first four pages from an original regional magazine, with two of the following three options:
• a radio advertisement for the magazine;
• two hyperlinked pages from the magazine’s website;
• a billboard advertisement for the magazine.

Inspirational Texts

I researched into 'Fashion' magazine. The front cover gave me a lot of inspiration for my own work. I like the white background with the bright font colours. Its very eyecatching as its simple and sophisticated. The articles are appropiate for a fashion magazine and young girls my age would find them interesting to read. I like how they have the seasons must haves as thats what a lot of people buy fashion magazines for, to look at the latest fashion and where to buy the clothes. Lots of magazines feature upcoming stars on the front cover, however 'Fashion' magazine always has a well known star who is in a lot of the spotlight and is a fashion icon which I thought was quite interesting. People will more likely buy a magazine that has someone they know on the cover whereas if it were a new upcoming celeb. The articles featured on the cover are what 'Fashion' magazines target audience will want to read, a giveaway is also mentioned in big, bright text. These things are selling the magazine just from the cover as people will skim read over the cover and will be interested in the articles and therefore will buy the magazine. They have a website and the articles are somewhat young. Meaning that a lot of older women wouldn't be interested in them. I think I could draw a lot from 'Fashion' magazine as it has really good articles that girls my age would like to read and they will most likely be my target audience.

My research on 'Vogue' magazine really inspired my ideas for my own work. I like how the colour palette goes together well and even the models dress matches the colours of some of the text including the masthead. This magazine has a wide range target audience. Vogue is probably the most popular fashion magazine in the world and people of all ages buy it. Most of the magazine is just pictures of models wearing designer clothes but people like that because they can see what is new every season and they can go out and look for clothes that are similar. I think I could use this magazine as inspiration for my own work. It has a very simple and sophisticated look to it and the colour palette is clean and fresh which is what I want my work to look like.

I researched into 'Seventeen' magazine and it really inspired me. I like how bright the colour palette is, it is very eyecatching. This magazine would only be interesting to young girls my age. I like how one of the articles is "250+ Swimsuits Inside Find The Best One For Your Body", it is involving girls of all shapes and its not just fashion for slim people as some girls don't feel comfortable in certain clothing. Its also interesing because they have reseached into the different swimsuit styles and are paying attention to what their target audience likes. The articles featured on the cover are drawing the target audience in, ones such as "The #1 Secret To Perfect Skin" and theres a win article. This magazine also uses well known celebrities on the front cover, however not all of them are super famous. This shows that the magazine is so good that they don't have to have a really famous celebrity on the cover so the readers will buy it. I think I could get a lot from 'Seventeen' magazine because they have lots of reader friendly articles which makes it obvious that they pay attention to their target audience.
